Basic
Job Function:
The
basic job functions of this position are to direct the effective
internal and external communications of the church and to assist
with volunteer coordination.
Essential
Job Results and Responsibilities:
- Represent
Lee's Summit Christian Church in a professional manner on a
daily basis, underscoring the values and beliefs of the Church
- Prepare
updates for posting to the web site; work with web site administrators,
staff and program groups to keep web pages current

Organize, edit and publish the church newsletter on the most
effective schedule and cost as agreed to by ministry staff and
the MLT
-
Assist ministry staff in the development and implementation
of specialized e-mailings and Notify Now (automated calling
service)
-
Work creatively at "branding" all publications of
the church to carry the message of who we are clearly into the
community and membership of the church
-
Develop creative brochures to communicate the essence of our
congregations ministries and special events
-
Notify MLT, teams, departments, and fellowship groups of meetings
or special events as requested developing efficient formats
for communicating
-
Create monthly calendar for newsletter, including birthdays
and anniversaries
-
Monitor the creative use of all forms of communication within
our facility from bulletin boards to Power Point presentations
-
Attend weekly ministry staff meeting
-
Participate in the planning and creative communication of special
events throughout the year including appropriate media exposure
-
Create booklets highlighting adult education opportunities including
Spiritual Pathways and guest speakers
-
Work to organize and oversee a team that recruits, trains, and
celebrates our volunteers
-
Work with ministry staff to create and maintain a gifts-based
system of volunteers
-
Work with Administrative Assistant to maintain accurate membership
records and to utilize information from ACS to assist in membership
care and programming
-
Contribute to the team spirit of the staff through fellowship,
encouragement, cooperation, and prayer.
-
Other duties as assigned by the Senior Minister or his designee.
Key

- Ability
to learn new software applications including the basic ACS system
to assist as needed with membership data.
- Strong
written and oral communication skills.
- Ability
to work in team-based ministries.

Position
Qualifications:
- High
School Diploma or equivalent required.
-
Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in the
communications field. Working knowledge and expertise in print
media and computer graphics.

Working knowledge of computer software including but not limited
to basic word processing, spreadsheet programs, database applications,
desktop publishing programs, and website management tools.
-
Experience in or willingness to learn how to maintain website
content in a business or non profit setting.
-
Experience in preparing a newsletter and other written public
relations materials for an organization.

Basic
Job Function:
The
basic job function of this position is to provide administrative
and secretarial support for the ministry staff and church organizations
with the help and management of volunteer assistants.
Essential
Job Results and Responsibilities:
- Represent
Lee's Summit Christian Church in a warm, friendly, professional
manner on a daily basis, underscoring the values and beliefs
of the Church to all who enter the office or contact the office
through any means.

Contribute to the team spirit of the staff through fellowship,
encouragement, cooperation, and prayer.
-
Publish and duplicate all weekly bulletins, special bulletins
and flyers.
-
Purchase, stock, and maintain office supplies and all office
equipment.
-
Maintain church calendar, schedule building use (including weddings),
and coordinate meeting spaces.
-
Manage computer systems, including backing up files, upgrading
software and peripherals, arranging for computer maintenance
and repair, and assisting as needed in the updating of the church
web site.
-
Train and coordinate the work of volunteer assistants/secretaries
as needed to complete the work, including worship and education
attendance records, maintaining historical records, and preparing
Power Point slides and calendar of events for worship and information
center.
-
Coordinate repairs and maintenance as requested by Property
Department, including but not limited to kitchen equipment,
restrooms, heat/air conditioning, bus, pest control, alarm system,
and phone system.
-
Communicate with and coordinate the activities of the daytime
and evening custodians, including ordering cleaning supplies.
-
Assist Worship Department by stocking communion supplies, worship
bulletins, wedding supplies and certificates, children's bulletins,
and keeping up a schedule of those serving on Sundays (elders/deacons/junior
deacons, greeters, acolytes, communion preparation, and hospitality
team), and ordering flowers.
-
Make the bus driver schedule.
-
Serve as the AT&T contact for the church and Stepping Stones
as well as the Blue Cross/Blue Shield contact for the church.
-
Secure supplies as needed, generally monthly (coffee, food for
special events, custodial and paper products).
-
Special projects as requested by ministerial staff, including
correspondence, printing stationary/envelopes, wedding booklets,
and periodic membership directories.
-
Open and distribute mail daily.
-
Participate in weekly ministry staff meetings and the annual
MLT retreat.
-
Supervise time cards for hourly employees.
-
Other duties as assigned by the Senior Minister or his designee.

Position

Administrative
and Financial Assistant
Basic
Job Function:
The
basic job function of this position is to provide assistance to
the Office Manager and Financial Secretary with financial responsibilities
as well as to provide general administrative support to the entire
ministry team.
Essential
Job Results and Responsibilities:
- Represent
Lee's Summit Christian Church in a professional manner, underscoring
the values and beliefs of the Church, especially giving special
care to matters of confidentiality in all financial matters.

Contribute to the team spirit of the staff through fellowship,
encouragement, cooperation, and prayer.
-
Early in the week record all personal pledges and gifts to the
church as directed by the Financial Secretary.
-
Learn appropriate applications to serve as Administrator of
the ACS data base and train others as appropriate.
-
Maintain data base for memorial donations, sending appropriate
acknowledgments.
-
Supervise church credit cards and petty cash.
-
Supervise bulk mail account.
-
Help with annual Stewardship Campaign.
-
Refill postage-by-phone and replace tape in postage meter.
-
With the Office Manager, develop a system of authorizing payment
of bills upon receipt, clarifying invoices and receipts as necessary,
and submitting to the Financial Secretary for payment.
-
Authorized to sign checks as needed.
-
Help with special event budgeting and reporting of expenditures
to those planning.
-
Help with administrative tasks to assist the staff, Office Manager
and volunteers including but not limited to keeping copiers,
fax, and other equipment loaded with paper and toner, recharging
batteries, maintaining the hospital and care center board, creating
directional signs, ordering books and completing denominational
reports.

Create mailing labels from the ACS system.

Other duties as assigned by the Office & Facility Manager
and the Senior Minister.
